KarmaKonnects Relief Aid for Flood-Affected People of Manipur

The project, led by KarmaKonnect Foundation in collaboration with SEWA Canada and local NGOs, was implemented in July 2024 to provide rapid humanitarian assistance to people affected by Cyclone Remal and ethnic conflicts in Manipur. The plan involved distributing essential supplies including CGI sheets for shelter, rice, linen bedcovers, and linen sarees across multiple flood-affected villages. Supplies were distributed through local networks ensuring timely, need-based allocation to displaced families.

Project Challenges

• Difficult Terrain and Flooded Areas: Restricted access to remote villages, delaying distribution.

• Logistical Complexity: Coordinating resources and volunteers in unstable conditions due to both natural disaster and ongoing ethnic unrest.

• High Demand vs. Limited Resources: Managing distribution fairly based on family size and immediate need.

• Health and Safety Risks: Volunteers worked in high-risk, flood-prone, and conflict-sensitive areas.

Results & Outcome

• Successfully supported 379 families with food supplies, 164 families with shelter materials, 100 families with linen bedcovers, and 106 women with sarees.

• Distributed 110 rice bags (50kg each), 164 CGI shelter sheets, and other essentials.

• Restored basic living conditions and provided immediate relief to vulnerable, displaced, and marginalized families in Manipur’s flood-affected areas.

• Strengthened community trust, humanitarian collaboration, and set up an efficient local relief distribution network in partnership with Sewa Bharati Manipur and other stakeholders.

• Training and placement of specially abled

• Refuge rehabilitation projects. (Urban slums)

• Adhoc Medical help and assistance as needed.
