Emergency Ambulance and Mobile Medical Service for Baksa District, Bodoland, Assam

Project Overview:
• This project by KarmaKonnect Foundation, in collaboration with SEWA Canada International and local trusts, aims to establish a dedicated ambulance and mobile medical service in Baksa District, Bodoland, Assam. The region, bordering Bhutan, faces critical healthcare challenges due to its remoteness, tribal demographics, and lack of organized emergency services.

Key Objectives:
• Provide 24/7 emergency ambulance services to underserved communities.
• Organize mobile medical camps for health check-ups, awareness programs, and minor treatments.
• Reduce emergency response times and improve patient outcomes.
• Support government hospitals and public health initiatives in remote areas.

Project Need:
• The area currently lacks reliable ambulance services, with no organized emergency medical system. Long response times and poor road connectivity often result in delayed care and preventable deaths.

Implementation Plan:
• Procure a well-equipped ambulance.
• Recruit trained drivers and medical attendants.
• Develop a 24/7 emergency call system.
• Conduct regular health camps in tribal villages.
• Establish partnerships with local healthcare providers and government bodies.

Project Support:
• The project is backed by local community trusts and SEWA Canada International, with KarmaKonnect leading the operations and logistics.

Estimated Timeline:
• The service is planned for launch within 6 weeks of project approval.

Impact:
• This initiative will offer critical, life-saving emergency medical access, create awareness on preventive health, and improve healthcare delivery in tribal and rural Assam.

About the NGO

KarmaKonnect is a non-profit social venture that aims to connect the fragmented ‘giving’ ecosystem by empowering NGOs, donors, volunteers, corporates and government to create impactful social development interventions. KarmaKonnect is an enabler; motivating and empowering individuals and organizations to tap the growing philanthropy landscape by creating, connecting, and/or collaborating for credible projects and causes. The KarmaKonnect team is currently involved in a number of initiatives across the country, through various dedicated volunteers and NGOs. We are primarily working on:

• Child education and livelihood skills (slum evening schools/shelters and aiding low income govt schools) in Gujarat, Telangana, MP and Delhi through utilization of existing govt infrastructure and innovative collaborative models.

• Women Empowerment and legal help, rescue and rehabilitation projects (primarily on Gujarat and UP)

• Rural Empowerment and Citizens Change/Awareness programs (Gujarat, MP, UP, Telangana and Rajasthan).

• We also Executing comprehensive "adopt a village" projects for donors involving well researched sustainable solutions for development

• Training and placement of specially abled

• Refuge rehabilitation projects. (Urban slums)

• Adhoc Medical help and assistance as needed.
