Project Implementation Plan

The project aims at strengthening the public education system by complementing resources to ensure the comprehensive learning and development of children.

The objective is to build synergy between the school and the other stakeholders, mainly the local community. Also, to create an extended platform at school to facilitate effective learning which is not limited to the syllabus, but which would motivate the children to pursue education with a clear dream and aspiration in life.

The program focuses on the children coming from the diversified cultural and socio-economic background. Create an environment to harness a child’s creative nature and to gain knowledge out of their experience.

Expenses and complete supplementary education of 40 kids have been taken care of by Shwas Foundation.

Project Challenges

One of the most vital questions related to the education system in our country is that - "Does the education imparted over the years translate itself into self-reliance?". If not then we need to introspect as to why this does not happen. Across the nation, in most of the schools, education remains confined within the four walls of a classroom and thus limiting the imaginative expanse of the young minds. More focus is given on the academic aspect of learning. Very less attention is paid on vocational training and learning through doing. The innate skills of students remain undiscovered and potentials untapped. After years of education, kids do not become self-reliant.

Results & Outcome

Education must cater to the national necessities and thereby provide employment and self-sustenance to individuals. For this to happen, we must create a synergy between theoretical learning and practical expertise gained through experimentation and exploration. The need of the time is that we as educators and teachers stress upon learning by doing and not merely upon classroom learning. There needs to be an integration of craft and learning. Students must be given training in various vocations in which they may find interest. This training would not only help them express their creativity but also transform them into future leaders and entrepreneurs.

Realising the importance of craft training, we started teaching our kids various art and craft products.  They started to express their hidden talents and soon began to create fine craft products. Soon they got their first opportunity to showcase their talent and display their craft materials. Their hard work was met with enthusiasm and their products received a great response from the employees of  Infostretch.

Kids have in them a lot of positive energy instore. All they need is direction and encouragement.

About Ngo

Shwas is an effort started by a group of volunteers to educate the underprivileged kids of Gulbai Tekra, Ahmedabad since the year 2009. We attempt to provide a safe and healthy environment to children coming from disadvantaged families so that they can openly share with us the challenges they face that hold them back from aspiring their dreams.

We teach kids every day for two hours. Our focus is value-based education, which includes teaching manners, inculcating a sense of hygiene and helping them to follow and fulfil their dreams. We also enrol potential students in a private school to ensure continuous quality education.
